BELFONTI ANNOUNCES LEASE AT ONE HAMDEN CENTER WITH WADDELL & REED
Waddell & Reed sells mutual funds to private investors, mainly through financial advisors. According to its website, “Waddell & Reed’s investment management team has consistently achieved highly competitive performance within its peer groups,” and it is “one of the oldest mutual fund complexes in the United States,” having been founded in 1937. The organization has approximately 140 offices nationwide, and the office that just moved to One Hamden Center is the 3rd largest producer among Waddell & Reed offices in the country. The new Hamden office of Waddell & Reed is operated by Senior District Manager Mr. Carl Marchitto.
Waddell & Reed held an Open House for its new space on September 6, 2006. The new lease is for 5,500 square feet of space on the fifth floor of One Hamden Center, located at 2319 Whitney Avenue in Hamden, CT. One of the amenities that draws national tenants to this office building is its on-site parking garage which can accommodate 750 cars.
“We have been very successful in attracting national tenants to our building, including a subsidiary of Allstate Insurance, TIAA-CREF, Ryan Beck & Company and IBM,” said Michael Belfonti. “The parking garage, the quality of tenant finishes, and the proximity of the office building to I-91, I-95 and the Merritt Parkway all contribute in making this a desirable location for large companies.”
The brokers for the transaction were Tim Fegan of CB Richard Ellis (broker for the lessor) and Bill Early of First Scout Realty Advisors (broker for the lessee).
